Donald Gene Schumann went to meet his heavenly father on September 23, 2016, surrounded by his family at Legacy Lodge. Don was born on July 11, 1935, and was the oldest child of Albert and Hazel (Hull) Schumann. Don graduated from Derby High School in May of 1953. He married Carmen Dorsey of Chariton on December 28, 1973. They were blessed with five children, Dixie, Darla, Todd, Tony and Tonya.
Don leaves behind to cherish his loving memory his wife of forty-two years, Carmen; daughters, Dixie (Ed) Bandy, Darla (Dave) Hulseberg, and Tonya (Scott) Brink; sons, Todd (Lisa) Schumann and Tony (Samantha) Schumann; three sisters, Joyce (Fred) Throckmorton, Janet (Garry) Throckmorton, and Judy (Lyle) Dorsey; one brother, OD (Bud) Schumann; sisters-in-law, Joyce Schumann and Carolyn Schumann; eighteen grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Hazel Schumann; father and mother-in-law, Olen and Irene Dorsey; sister, Jewel Schumann; brothers, Hubert Schumann and Gary Schumann; granddaughter, Courtney Schumann; and sister-in-law, Linda Schumann.
Don was a special man whose generosity, kindness and humor will be truly missed by his many friends and family.
