Donald G. Wiener, 74, of Plainville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain.
Donald was born on January 6, 1934, one of three children to the late Edward and Gussie Wiener. His childhood was spent in Waterbury, where he met the love of his life, Emily Boccardo. Together they would share 52 years of love and devotion, raising their family in Plainville for the past 30 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged in 1955. Donald was employed for over 40 years at Prudential, before branching off on his own as a self-employed insurance agent. An avid sports enthusiast, he was a fan of the N.Y. Yankees and Giants, and took advantage of any opportunity to play golf. He was a member of Farmingbury Hills Golf Course, and the Wolcott Lyons Club, where he enjoyed volunteering his time to care for their grounds. He leaves a legacy of hard work and selflessness, and will be greatly missed by his beloved family and many good friends.
In addition to his loving wife, Emily, he leaves his children, Gary Wiener of Plainville; Sharon Bessoni and her husband, Glen of Southington, and Robin Lucibello and her husband, Joe of Wolcott; his four grandchildren, Ashley and Michael Bessoni, Crystal Wiener, and Nichole Ciccone and her husband, Joncarlo. He also leaves his sister, Sandy Wiener of Trumbull; his brother, Harvey Wiener of Waterbury; and many nieces and nephews.
