Donald G. Allan Donald G. Allan, 83, of Ridgefield, husband of Bette (Matthews) Allan, died on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Danbury Hospital. A Ridgefield native, Mr. Allan was born September 2, 1930, son of Edwin and Jean (Blair) Allan. He attended Ridgefield schools and graduated from Ridgefield High School in the class of 1948. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1948 to 1952. In 1955, Donald and his brother, Edwin, purchased the former Paterson’s Clothing Store, relocating it to 440 Main Street and renaming it Allan’s. Don and Ed operated the business until their retirement in 1981. He enjoyed gardening and was an all-around handy man.
