Passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016. Age 71. Donald was born on June 20, 1944, the son of the late Claude Eugene Harper and Wilda Elizabeth (Parker) Harper. He served his country in the United States Army as a chaplain. He graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He retired from the Upjohn Company after 18 years of service. He attended First United Methodist Church of Plainwell. He belonged to the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Chemical Society. Among his hobbies, he especially enjoyed boating.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Chris Harper; three children, Anita (Leonard) Joiner, Elizabeth (Michael Ferguson) Pierce and Jeremy (Gail) Harper; seven grandchildren, Sloane Harper, Bobby Elaman, Alanna Elaman, Natalie Pierce, Jacob Harper, Alex Pierce and Zoe Pierce; one brother, William (Cynthia) Harper and one sister, Patricia Harper; and many nieces and nephews.
