Don Girard of Kuna Idaho passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the age of 83. He left us peacefully and lovingly with his family at his side. He fought the battle but lost the war with cancer.
Don was born in Burbank, South Dakota to Alphonse and Stella Girard on March 23, 1933. He enlisted in the Air Force after high school and after returning from basic training he married Madonna (Donna) Millette on July 30, 1953 in Vermillion, SD.
The Air Force life took him and Donna, along with their children, to many places they may never would have experienced, including three years in Germany. Along the way, wherever he went, he made life-long friends. While stationed at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas he retired in 1973 after 20 years in the Air Force. Don then worked for Clark County as an Operations Coordinator at McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas. He retired from there after 22 years and enjoyed life traveling with Donna and being a Grandpa and Great-Grandpa.
After 42 years in Las Vegas he and Donna moved to Kuna, Idaho in November of 2005 to be close to family.
Don is survived by his wife Madonna Girard of Kuna, ID; his children Kevin (Diane) Girard of Las Vegas, NV; Kim (Stan) McClain of Sequim, WA; Kurt Girard of Star, ID; Grandson Chad (Lindsay) Girard of Kuna, ID; Granddaughter Kristine Engholm of Angleton, TX; Great-grandchildren Zoe, Zane and Zachary Girard of Kuna, ID; Sister Marilyn Isaacson of Vermillion SD; Aunt Dora Mae Miller of Onawa IA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
