Donald E. Wagner, 68, departed on his final bike ride, destination heaven, on November 17, 2018 in Orange Park, FL. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and friend, Don was born on May 5, 1950 in Allegan, MI, the son of Roger Wagner and Norma (Post) Wagner. Don graduated from Eaton Rapides High School, MI, Class of 1968. Following graduation, Don served in the United States Navy for 21 years as an Air Traffic Controller before his retirement in 1990 at
Don was an avid motorcycle rider and spent almost 50 years on Harleys except for the occasional Gold Wing, cherishing the time he spent with other riders in Savannah, GA, Jacksonville, FL, Daytona Beach, FL, and numerous other places and rallies around the country. Don was active in military and civilian
organizations where he lived, particularly in the Orange Park, FL and Savannah, GA communities. He was an active member of American Legion Post 250, Middleburg, FL, and the George Wagner American Legion Post, Dorr, MI. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Fleet Reserve
Association, Disabled American Veterans, the National Rifle Association (NRA), and the American Legion Riders. Don frequently volunteered to cook and serve food at American Legion fundraisers and hardly ever missed a “Poker Run” or “Toys for Tots” charitable motorcycle event.
Don is survived by his wife of 24 years, Mary McGrath Wagner, Commander, USN, (Retired, Navy Nurse Corps). He is also survived by his two children, Brandon Wagner of Gainesville, FL, and Ashley Wagner Feit of Cary, NC; three grandchildren, Alan, Abbie, and Mandy Wagner of Gainesville, FL; and four siblings, Bonnie Wagner Heintzelman of Pensacola, FL, Ron Wagner, Rick Wagner and Debbie Wagner of Eaton Rapids, MI.
