Don passed away peacefully at his residence, on January 1, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born in Greene County, OH , on April 20,1936, to the late Frank B. and Virginia C. (Poe) Dearing.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Janet S. (Moore); his sons Donald E. II (Kelly Fulton) Dearing, and Douglas E. Dearing both of Kenton; grandchildren Drey E. and Delaney Jae Dearing, and Cole E. and Carly E. Dearing, all of Kenton; a sister Brenda (Bob) Abshear and nieces Jody (Billy) Reed and Christy (Matt) Hadley of Lexington, KY.
Don graduated from Zanesfield High School in 1954.
Don was a prominent businessman in his community and worked at a variety of jobs through the years including Tanger’s Appliances, Hopewell Dairy, Miller Meteor, the FBI in Washington, DC, managing Sherwin Williams, First National Bank, Huntington Bank, and a vice president at Liberty Bank for 25 years. He retired in 1998.
Don was an avid car enthusiast and passionately attended car shows with his classic cars, winning over 200 trophies. He was also an accomplished pilot and enjoyed flying his planes on many adventures with family and friends. He was a member of the Kenton Jaycees, Kenton Moose Lodge 428, Kenton Elks Lodge 157, a member of the Hardin County Civil Air Patrol, a board member for the Kenton Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the First Christian Church. Don enjoyed joking with others and telling endlessly entertaining stories. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
