Donald E. Schrader, 84, of E. Dunn in New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at Miller’s Merry Manor in New Carlisle, Indiana. Mr. Schrader was born on December 6, 1921, in South Bend to Lester Earl & Nora Catherine (Schafer) Schrader. He retired in 1984, from the former Wheelabrator Frye Inc., as a mechanical engineer.
On August 27, 1949, Donald married Beverly Ruth Brooks who survives. Surviving with his wife Beverly of New Carlisle are their children; David Earl Schrader of Charleston, S. Carolina, Susan Marie Schrader-Brasseur, of New Carlisle, Catherine Louise (Craig Alan) Lindgren of New Carlisle, Carol Ann (Thomas) Warnock of Cadillac, Michigan; 11 grandchildren, Michele Schrader, Douglas (Jamie) Brasseur, Crystal (David) Snyder, Beverly Warnock, Beth Brasseur, Dianna Warnock, Katie Brasseur, Drake Warnock, Christopher Warnock, Jacob Lindgren, and Annie Lindgren; five great grandchildren; and his brother, Dr. Robert (Mary) Schrader Jr. of Longview, Texas.
Donald was a 1943, graduate of Purdue University as a mechanical engineer, a member of the New Carlisle Lion’s Club, the Masonic Lodge, New Carlisle, the American Legion, Post 297, New Carlisle, the Eastern Star, the New Carlisle Park Board, an honorary member of Gleaner, a traffic handler for the Amatuer Radio Emergency Services, and was a master gardener. He was a disabled veteran of the Army Air Force during WWII.
