“Donny” was born on July 9, 1959 along with his Twin Brother, Ronald Lewis Smith to the late Mr. George W. Smith, Jr. and the late Mrs. Vivian Richardson Smith. Preceded in death: Eldest Brother, Billy C. Guy, Sr., and Niece; Tracy L. Guy. The late Mrs. Shirley Wilson-Harris was the Godmother of the Twins. Donald was affectionately known as: “Donny,” by some: “The Don,” “Uncle D” and “Smooth as Butter” by his namesake son, Donald. By the Grace of God, the Twins celebrated their 62nd Birthday on July 9, 2021, together with members of his Family and friends.

As a young man, Donny studied, along with his brothers and sisters, Shotokan Karate under the leadership of the renowned Martial Arts Hall of Famer, the late, great Sensei Thomas “LaPuppet” Carroll. Donny and his brothers were Sensei Lapuppet’s travel team for demonstrations, and they competed in many karate tournaments. Donny began his walk in faith at the St. Luke Community Church pastored by the late Rev. Wilber Miller. Donny graduated from James Madison High School, Brooklyn, NY, and worked for the NYC Housing Authority. In his late twenties, Donny joined a Masonic Fraternal Order. Donny loved basketball and played very well. He was a huge “Knicks” fan, and a “die-hard” New Yorker. His favorite quote was “A man has got to be a man at all times!!” Donny was known to be an impeccable dresser. Later, Donny joined his mother in Rome, GA where he worked at Floyd Medical Center as a hospital orderly.  He attended DeVry Institute, and trained as an Certified Electrical Technician. Donny returned to Brooklyn, New York, and began his religious studies with Jehovah Witnesses, who then became his Spiritual Family.
