Donald “Don” Burns Allman, 78, of Weston, passed away Friday, December 4, 2009 at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He was born August 17, 1931 in Salem, WV the son of the late Wade D. and Velma G. Burns Allman. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Martha Elaine Griffith Allman whom he married January 3, 1953. In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter; Cynthia Shutts and husband Stephen of Prestonsburg, KY; one son; James Michael “Mike” Allman and wife Melissa of Clarksburg; grandchildren; Traci Campbell and husband Richie of Prestonsburg, Ky and Clint Shutts and wife Kate also of Prestonsburg, Ky, Brittany and Bethany Allman both of Clarksburg; 2 great grandchildren; Lindsey and Cole Campbell and one sister; Sandra Dawson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters ; Marjorie Utt and Betty Allman. Mr. Allman was retired having been employed as a senior Engineering Technician for the WV Department of Highways; he was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW post 4469. His wife stated he was a loving husband, father and grandfather and the greatest man she ever knew. He was quiet, but a jack of all trades and helped everyone.
