Donald Ditto 85 of Terre Haute and formerly of Clinton passed away in his sleep on Feb 9, 2014 at 1:30pm in his nephew Gregory Reiber’s residence where he also resided. He was born Sept 26, 1928 in Floyd County in Kentucky to William “Lee” Ditto and Dora Louise Ditto. He was one of 14 children born to his father and one of nine children born to his mother.
One could say that he lived a full and vivid life. He was a veteran of the Air Force and the Army in which he served during the Korean War as a surgical tech. While serving in Korea, Don was awarded the Silver Star for Gallantry in action on July 14, 1951 near Chip’o-ri, Korea.
His love for traveling took him to other points in the United States as well as back to France and then to Australia. Yet, he found that he liked the Florida climate and took up residence in Ridge Manor from 1992 until 2013 when he returned to Indiana to live with family members.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Clinton until they disbanded. He also loved to dance and hear a good story or joke as well as share his own stories of the life he had the chance to live.
He is preceded in death by his parents, twelve brothers and sisters.
Don never married but he is survived by one sister Peggy R. Ditto-Reiber, her children; Martin Reiber, Gregory Reiber and Deanna (John) James, their children and several other neices and nephews and their many childre and grandchildren.
