Donald “Dutch” Uran born April 14, 1931, in Excelsior, Minnesota. He was called by the heavenly Father on July 5, 2015 at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Earl Uran and Margaret Elizabeth Uran, a brother Richard L. Uran, Dutch’s wife of 54 years, Ingeborg who went to the Lord on March 10, 2005 and his daughter Debra Jo Uran who passed in 2014. He is survived by his sister Maggie and brother Jack, son D. Mark Uran and wife Jody Uran and grandchildren Kyle and his wife Melissa and their son Carson, Eric and Kelly, and Debra’s son Shawn Walter. He had a very special love for his family and grandchildren. He was born at home on Lake Minnewashta, Minnesota. He married his High School sweetheart in January 1951 and entered the US Air Force the same year. He served in the Korean War and in Vietnam where he receive the Bronze Star for outstanding excellence in leadership and participation in the Medical Civic Action Program. During his 20 year military career he earned his BA degree from the University of Nebraska. He retired from the Air Force in 1971 and went to work for the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston TX as the Assistant to the Chairman, Department of Pediatrics. He retired from the University in 1991 and moved to Boerne, TX in the Hill Country. He became a Master Gardner doing volunteer work in San Antonio and Fair Oaks Ranch. Dutch discovered his talent for sculpturing and created a number of animal bronze sculptures. Dutch and Inge made multiple trips to Europe and the Caribbean, enjoyed ballroom dancing and entertaining at home. Dutch would say to those who read this – don’t be sad, be glad for me; I’m back with my dance partner and best friend and live in God’s Paradise. Do not forget to say “I Love You” and give your family and friends a hug. Be good, love God and we will meet again.
