Donald Wayne Bush of Newnan, Georgia died on August 19, 2018. Mr. Bush was born on August 6, 1944, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Louise Bush Hester. He spent his childhood in Atlanta. Mr. Bush was a born entrepreneur. After attending the University of Georgia, he worked as an accountant for baseball great Bullet Bob Turley.
Bullet Bob was so impressed with his work that he became an investor for Mr. Bush to start his own establishment in what is now known as Underground Atlanta in the early 1970s. His Underground Atlanta businesses included Front Page and Pump House nightclubs, the Chat ’n’ Chew sandwich shop, and Jocko’s Pizza. Mr. Bush went on to open Angelo’s Pizza in Decatur, Hedgerose Heights on E Paces Ferry Rd, and Mario’s Ristorante on Peachtree. After a successful career in the restaurant and nightclub businesses, he decided to completely change fields and began working in the automotive industry, where he was the General Manager for both Global Imports and then Chris Motors BMW in Atlanta.
In 1976, he married Yvonne Lambert Bush, and they settled in Newnan, GA, where he began his career in real estate. He first owned and managed several apartment buildings and rentals in Newnan. He became a licensed real estate agent in 1990. After many years in the real estate business, Don and Yvonne, and their twin sons, Wesley and Christopher, opened the Bush Real Estate Group, where Don worked until he retired in 2017 leaving the company in the hands of his sons.
Don was predeceased by his brothers George Franklin Bush, Jr and Gary Dean Bush. His survivors include his sons Christopher Ryan Bush and his wife Kristina Grindstaff Bush, John Wesley Bush and his wife Ellen Threlkeld Bush, and 3 loving grandchildren, Ethan Christopher Bush, Parks Christopher Bush, and Ellis Adaline Bush, all of Newnan. He is also survived by his former wife and dearest friend, Yvonne Lambert Bush, his special friends Connie Williford Marsh and her husband James Scott Marsh of Macon, his sister Winola Bush Swinks and her husband Archie Alton Swinks, his sister-in-law Micki Bush MacMahon and her husband James Walker MacMahon of Decatur, his aunts Joy Major Belyeu and her husband William “Billy” Sims Belyeu of Smyrna and Bobbie Major Pumphrey and her husband Linwood LaVonne Humphrey of Lovejoy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
