Donald Olsen, age 78, of Spirit Lake, passed away Friday, April 9, 2009, at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake. He was born on November 9, 1930, in Schaller, Iowa, to Kalmer and Louise (Christiansen) Olsen. They moved to Nemaha shortly after his birth. He loved it there, playing in the streets and wanting to keep every stray dog that came to town. Donnie attended and graduated from the Nemaha High School in 1949, where he was active in every sport. Donnie was united in marriage to Maxine Shannon on December 1, 1949, at the Nemaha Methodist Church. They were blessed with one daughter, Rachel, and one son, Wylie.Donnie farmed Wylie and Verna Shannon&rsquo
