Don Jose Nolasco Belarmino Baldazo: Husband, Father, Brother, & Friend; passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 19, 2021 while hiking the Grand Canyon with his family. He will be missed dearly by so many of us who continue to remember his subtle humor and warm generosity.

Don was born June 10th, 1965 in Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines near Manila to Nolasco Baldazo and Milagros Belarmino, the youngest of four children. When he was three years old, Don immigrated to the USA, wearing his cool Batman shoes. Upon being naturalized, his name was legally documented as Don after his childhood nickname “Don-Don.” Along with his parents and siblings, Don became a citizen in 1976. Don was raised and educated in Logan & Ogden, Utah, earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Applied Math and Computer Science from Weber State University.  In one of his math classes, Don met Suzette Malouf, the cutest of the three women who shared his major. Don and Suzette were married two years later on September 23rd, 1989. They spent the next three decades laughing together and travelling across nearly every continent. During the first 10 years of their marriage ,they were blessed with three children whom he loved without bounds.

Don worked in Salt Lake City, Utah until 2003 when the family moved to Boise, Idaho, where Don began a career with HP. In 2010 the family moved cross country to the “country” of Texas. In Austin, Don was most recently with SolarWinds as a Senior Software Development Manager. Don loved being outdoors, enjoying skiing, fishing, hiking, and biking with his family. Don taught his children to love fantastic books, silly movies, 80’s music, and the local library where there were more of each than you could ever experience. Don was his kids’ biggest fan and never missed a swim meet, cross country meet, soccer game, football halftime dance performance or parents’ weekend. He coached a fair share of soccer for each child. He proudly watched each of his children graduate high school and then university. Don continued to travel with Suzette and his children visiting every corner and island of the US, including Alaska and Hawaii. Don loved international travel,  visiting New Zealand, the Philippines, Australia, Europe, India and more, generally attached at the hip to Suzette. He was always ready to work out, do yoga, hike, bike, and play games with his family. They will never forget Don’s lessons in life, his kindness, humor (lots of dad jokes), common sense, fitness, generosity and love.

Don will be missed by his wife of nearly 32 years: Suzette; his children: Sam, Ben, and Sara; and his sisters: Gemini (Robert) Bourne and Sagitta (Phil) Boyer. He also leaves behind in-laws: Mitzi Malouf, Linda Edwards, John (Andrea) Malouf; and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joe.

Don (Dad) we will never forget your zest for life, your sense of humor, your unbelievable fruit cutting skills, your compassion for your family and those around you or any of your many endearing qualities. You have left a huge hole in our hearts because of how full you made our lives. Know that your echoes of love will last an eternity and you will be dearly missed, immeasurably loved, and remembered forever.
