Donald Omar Arnett, the son of Mary Fern (Kirkhart) and Omar C. Arnett, was born June 12, 1948 at Superior, Nebraska. He departed this life on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at his home in Lebanon, Kansas at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 6 days.
Don was a lifelong resident of Jewell and Smith counties. He received his formal education attending the Burr Oak grade school and then graduated from the Lebanon High School with the class of 1966. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree at Fort Hays State College in 1970. Don then began his life’s work in agriculture, returning to the farm to work the land and raise livestock.
He was united in marriage with Marilyn Kugler on December 4, 1989 at Osborne, Kansas, and they continued to make their home and raise their family in the Lebanon area.
In his leisure time Don was an avid reader and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest love and enthusiasm in life was for his family and he especially cherished the time they spent together.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Omar and Fern Arnett; an infant son, Thomas; a sister, Marilyn Jeffery and a brother, Theodore Edgar.
Left to treasure his memory are his loving wife, Marilyn Arnett of Lebanon, Kansas; his children, Christina (Nathan) Arnett Hoisington, Kansas; Leslee (Nathan) Knackstedt of Hoisington, Kansas; Jaclyn (Sean) Duffy of Guide Rock, Nebraska and Rachael (Jarrod) Rightnar of Hastings, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Brealynn, Octavius, Mannix, Emmalee, Cameron, Keira and Kaleb; other relatives and many friends.
