Don A. “Wimpy” Lawson, 72, of Griggsville, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
He was born Mar. 20, 1945, in Louisiana, MO, the son of William and Helen Kriegler Lawson.
He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey D. Lawson of Griggsville and Jeremy (Jodie) Lawson of Bluffs; three grandchildren, Brittni, Hunter and Macee Lawson; and four brothers and two sisters, Billy (Karen) Lawson of Chambersburg, Dick (Debbie) Lawson of Mendon, Connie (Jim) Manker of Griggsville, Carol Crear of Perry, Brice (Carol) Lawson of Perry and Jack (Tracy) Lawson of Chambersburg. He was preceded in death by one sister, Delores Main; and one brother in infancy, Jeffrey Lawson.
Wimpy was a Pump Operator for Valley City Drainage District, retiring in 2017. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the 101st Airborne Division, US Army, earning a Bronze Star Medal, the Cross of Gallantry, and the Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars. He was the ringleader of the Coffee Shack Club, and enjoyed going to Branson. Wimpy was very proud of his children and grandchildren.
