Biography
Dr. “D.J.” Dominic J. Scalera, Jr, Dentist, answered his Lord’s call on September 29, 2012. Dom was born on June 21, 1931, and was the son of Dominic J. Scalera, Sr. and Josephine D’Angelo Scalera of Midland, Pennsylvania.
After growing up and graduating from high school in the Midland area, Dominic attended Penn State University and earned a degree in Bio-Chemistry. He received his doctor of dental surgery degree at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dom has been married to Frances High Scalera since 1956 and they both have raised three fine sons: Dominic J. Scalera, III of West Palm Beach, Jeffrey Carl Scalera of Cocoa, and Joel Cameron Scalera of Merritt Island.
After graduation from dental school in 1958, the Air Force sent Dominic and Fran to Patrick Air Force base in Cocoa Beach. Upon leaving the Air Force, Dominic set up private dental practice on Dixon Blvd. in Cocoa and later expanded his practice to include an office in Suntree.
Later his youngest son Joel joined him in the practice of dentistry. Son Jeff owns Brevard Dental Prosthetics and Son Dominic, III (“Jack”) is a Partner at the West Palm Beach Law Firm of Grieco & Scalera, PA.
