Domenick Paul Calderone passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee, Florida after a short illness. He was born to Paul and Anne Calderone in Newark, New Jersey on July 21, 1964. Domenick was an only child, but his mother, Anne, was the seventh of eight children and his father, Paul, the youngest of seven, all of whom lived within a couple of hours of each other in New Jersey. Domenick and his cousins were together so much, they grew up like siblings.
After high school, Domenick went to Florida to visit friends and never left. Within a short time, he complied with a family of loving and devoted friends.
Domenick met the love of his life, Sheryll Belsky, and together they moved to Okeechobee in 2003. They spent their time on their boat, fishing from their dock, with friends and family, and with their beloved dogs.
Domenick came to work at Okeechobee County in November of 2014. He started out as a Grounds Maintenance Tech, and then moved into the Building Maintenance Tech position a couple of years later. He was known and adored by everyone throughout all of our facilities, and everyone enjoyed having him come by to work in their areas so that they could spend some time talking with him.
Within minutes of meeting Domenick, you felt as though you’d been friends forever. He was kind and caring to all he met, and willing to help in any way he could. He always had a smile, a warm greeting, and a listening ear for others, even during times when he was struggling.
Domenick was predeceased by his wife, Sherry Belsky, and his parents, Paul and Anne Calderone.
He is survived by his stepson, Zech Belsky; aunt, Yolanda Candore; uncle and aunt, Frank and Angie Calderone; many cousins; and many friends who were as close as family.
