Domenick Iassogna, 81, passed away peacefully at Milford Hospital on Saturday, April 18, 2009. He was the devoted husband of Eleanor Lenotti Iassogna for 52 years. He was born in Bridgeport to the late Domenick and Elizabeth Iassogna. He graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1945. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WW II. Dom was a retired manufacturing engineer at Avco Lycoming in Stratford, CT. Dom was gifted with “hands of gold” and undertook many home projects with perfection. He was an avid fan of the U Conn Men and Women Basketball, and New York Yankees. He enjoyed socializing daily with his friends at Dunkin’ Donuts as well as being a regular at the Orange YMCA for many years. During the 50s, Dom was a member of the renowned Stratford American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps and performed in many winning competitions. Dom was a faithful and active parishioner at St.
Besides his wife, Dom is survived by his loving son, Paul Iassogna of Stratford and his wife Michelle, and his loving daughter, Linda Abbagnaro of North Branford and fiancée, Douglas Capaubo. He leaves behind his five adored grandchildren, Courtney and Kayla Iassogna, and Gina, Lisa, and Evan Abbagnaro. He is also survived by his sister, Dolores Vitale and husband Ronald, his sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Mary Iassogna, Shirley Giampaolo and husband John, Margaret Lenotti, Jean Albanese, Mary Fiscella and husband Henry, and Lynn Lenotti as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Evelyn Mizia and husband John, brothers, Bernard and James Iassogna, sister-in-law, Dorothy Roberts, and brother-in-law, Richard Lenotti. Dom will be sadly missed by his family and many friends but will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, friendliness and great big smile.
