Domenica “Margie” Sbrocco-Castellano died peacefully Tuesday April 22nd at the Holiday Care Center in Berkeley Township NJ. She was 93 years old. Born in Manhattan NY the daughter of Angelo and Grace Maffei, after attending High School, she worked briefly at a factory making puffed cereal where she met and fell in love with her first husband Felix “Brighty” Sbrocco.
They married in 1943, had a son Henry and raised a family in the Bronx NY until Felix passed in 1965. She stayed in the Bronx until 1988 when she moved to Holiday City South with her mother and brother Michael. There she met and married her second husband John Castellano until his death in 2012. Domenica spent her adult life as the office manager and bookkeeper for Brusco Fuel and Oil Co. “Margie”, as she was known for most of her life by family and friends, was a wonderful seamstress and knitter who made most of her own dress clothes.
She loved her Mets enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and beating all her male relatives at poker. While in Holiday City she was an active member of “Pairs and Squares” and loved going to Atlantic City. She leaves her loving son Henry and his wife Rose, brothers Nicky and his wife Pat, Michael and his wife Bernadette, as well as nieces Grace and her husband Bob, Elizabeth and her long-term companion Tom, nephews John and wife Helen, and Nicholas, many dear family members and close friends.
