Mr. Domenic Mastrorocco, 79, of Southbury died Saturday January 10th at home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Grace (Savino) Mastrorocco.
Mr. Mastrorocco was born August 15, 1929 in Acquaviva Delle Fonti Bari, Italy a son of the late Guiseppe and Maria (Bonavoglia) Mastrorocco. He met the love of his life when he was 16 and she was 13. From the year she turned 18, he persistently asked her father for her hand in marriage for the next 7 years before he was finally granted permission in 1957 and they’ve spent the last 51 beautiful years together. They began a family in Italy before moving to America in 1966. Domenic was a hard worker and held various jobs throughout his career. He loved making homemade wine and gardening but his passion was his personal homemade woodshop. The most important thing in his life was his love for his wife, children and grandchildren whom he adored. He was a sweet “dolce” and gentle man that will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his son Joseph Mastrorocco and his wife Cathi of Oakville, his daughter Maria Paterno and her husband Robert Sr. of Southbury and his five grandsons, Robert Paterno Jr., Nicholas Paterno, Michael Paterno, Joseph Mastrorocco and Justin Mastrorocco.
