Dolores Jane Scully, 90, was called home on Monday, August 9, 2021, at MercyOne Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.

Dolores was born September 20, 1930 to Carl and Bonnie Dunagan (Foust). She lived most of her life on Des Moines’ East Side attending East High School; her favorite saying was “Lee Township against the world.” She married Theodore M. Scully (Ted) on January 18, 1958. She worked for ARA in the 70’s and 80’s in the cafeteria at Dowling High School and then as a cook for the executives at Firestone Tire and Rubber. She was an amazing cook and was famous for her potato salad. She loved to play bingo and was quite the karaoke singer. If the song she wanted to sing was unavailable, she would just sing it a cappella. After retiring, she and Ted spent many winters as snowbirds in Pharr, Texas. Of all the things she loved, her favorite and greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren; family was the most important thing to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Carl Duane Dunagan; son, Douglas L. Jones; and her husband, Theodore M. Scully I, all of Des Moines. She is survived by her children, Steve (Debbie) Jones of Des Moines, Ted II (Julie) Scully of Port Byron, Illinois, Theresa (Sid) Terronez of Colona, Illinois and Ed (Lorrie) Scully of Pleasant Hill; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
