Dolores Patricia (Kane) Brass, 86, passed away in her sleep on September 12, 2019 at her home in Wasilla, Alaska.
Dolores was born on July 5, 1933 in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania to Donald Edward and Elizabeth (Luther) Kane. In 10th grade, she left school to help take care of family. Dolores met James S Brass and the two were wed on July 17, 1954 in Tucson, Arizona. The couple moved to southern California and began to start a family; they welcomed their first-born son in 1959 and their second in 1962. In 1963, with two young children, James and Dolores moved to Anchorage, Alaska. Shortly after arriving, the couple welcomed their first daughter in mid-1964. Their fourth child, a son, was born in 1966. Dolores stayed busy working as a den mother for Cub Scouts and a full-time nanny. The family moved to Palmer in 1975 and then to Wasilla in 1981; where Dolores would volunteer at the Wasilla Food Pantry. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren; Dolores enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking for her family, as well as camping.
Dolores is survived by her husband, James Spaulding Brass of Wasilla; sons, James Spaulding Brass Jr., of Little Chute, Wisconsin, Timothy P. Brass and Thomas E. Brass, both of Wasilla; daughter Elizabeth A Bannon of Soldotna; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a few great-great grandchildren; brothers Rodger Kane of Fredrick, Maryland and Michael Kane of Clay, New York; and sister Patricia Dolores Lambardi of Pennsylvania. She is preceded in death by her sister, Jean; brothers, Donald Jr and Dennis; parents Donald Kane, Sr. and Elizabeth (Luther) Kane.
