Dolores Eileen Mabry, 93 of Centralia, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015, at 12:30 PM at the Odin Health Care Center in Odin. She was born September 29, 1921, in Sandoval, the daughter of George and Gertrude (Burtz) Husmann.
She married Woodson Mabry on November 9, 1946, at St. Lawrence Rectory in Sandoval, he preceded her in death on November 27, 2005. Mrs. Mabry is survived by one son, Edward Mabry and wife JoLeen of Urbana; two daughters: Judy Fark and husband Danny of Sandoval and Sharon Knolhoff and husband Michael of Sterling; nine grandchildren: Michael Mabry and wife Melissa of Prospect Heights, Jennifer George and husband Sterling of Bloomington, IN, Tricia Austin and husband Michael of St. Louis, MO, Jason Fark and wife Kara of Peoria, Josh Fark and wife Kendra of Edwardsville, Laura Fulton and husband Jeff of Morton, John Knolhoff and wife Kelly of Concord, NC, Dan Knolhoff and wife Sarah of Loves Park, and Katie Knolhoff of Peoria; twelve great-grandchildren: Ryan and Jared George, Nathan, Matthew, Graceleen, and Mikayla Mabry, Emery and Elin Austin, Eve Armstrong, Lily Fulton, Elle, and Mia Knolhoff; a sister, Terese Mall of St. Louis, MO. and one sister-in-law, Wilma Sharp of Centralia.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lowell Husmann, and a sister-in-law, Naomi Whitsell. Dolores graduated from St. Lawrence Grade School in Sandoval, St. Mary High School in Carlyle, and Brown’s Business College. In earlier years, Mrs. Mabry worked in the office of B.J. Holtkamp and later as office manager and bookkeeper for F.W. Woolworth Co. in Centralia. For the last 33 years before her retirement in 1998, she worked with preschoolers- 13 years in a nursery school and 20 years in-home daycare. Mrs. Mabry was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Mary Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America (holding the office of treasurer and financial secretary for many years), St. Mary Social Justice Committee, Pastoral Council for six years, Business and Professional Women’s Club (especially enjoying working the Balloon Fest and the Reality Store), Greenbriar Home Extension, Volunteer for the C.A.R.E. Program (Working with nursing home residents), Church Women United, Goldem Gems, Girl Scout Leader for ten years and member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed spending time with family and attending the sports games and activities of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her church activities, attending club meetings, dancing, playing cards, collecting beanie babies, and doing craftwork by making Christmas favors for over twenty years of her various activities.
