Dolores Jean Guith, age 85 of Chippewa Lake, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at her home after a short battle with cancer. Dolores was born on December 11, 1926 in Flint, MI to Carl and Johannah (Schmidt) Zornow. On November 9, 1946 she married Robert Guith Sr. in Flint where they made their home and raised their family until moving to Chippewa Lake in 1973. While living in Flint she was an Elder of two Presbyterian Churches and Sunday school superintendent. Dolores volunteered for the Mott Foundation in Flint, was an organizer for Girl Scouts of America in Flint and Chippewa Lake and a 21 year volunteer at the Mecosta County Commission on Aging & Senior Center in Mecosta where she helped as a receptionist. Dolores and Bob attended the United Church in Big Rapids and the Chippewa Lake Community Church where they were always willing to lend a hand. They enjoyed square dancing and round dancing when they were able. She was a fantastic artist, cook and seamstress. Dolores had a strong will, giving heart and generous spirit. She was a two time cancer survivor once in 1955 and again in 1987. She instilled parental duties in her children and was active in their schooling. Dolores is survived by her husband of 65 ½ years Robert of Chippewa Lake; three children, Ruth Ann Pangborn of Midland, Robert (Sandra) Guith Jr. of Kentwood and Rebecca (Randy) Bednarz of Ionia; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren with one on the way and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, 2 great grandchildren, a brother Carl Zornow, a sister Margeret Munsie and her son-in-law Dan Pangborn.
