Dolores Constance Eason was born on January 31,1928 to the late James Richard and Beulah Richard in Philadelphia, PA. After a journey with dementia and multiple myeloma, Dolores entered eternal rest at her lifelong home on August 12, 2021.

At an early age, Dolores accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior.  She became a member of Calvary Baptist Church (now Victory Baptist Church) located in Vauxhall, NJ. Her father served as chairman of the Deacon Board and her mother was a deaconess. Dolores served as chairperson of the church’s Flower Club and was actively involved in the church’s vacation bible school program.

Dolores married James William Eason on November 30, 1946. To this union were born twin girls—Karen Ann and Kim Dorothy. Dolores loved her twin girls and spent hours shopping for their matching outfits and making sure their baby white shoes were always sparkling white. Dolores was a stay-at-home mom for much of her twin’s early childhood. During this time, she protested with neighbors for the most effective and fair integration of the Township of Union schools. However, once her girls entered junior high school, she decided to restart her career.  She began working as a clerk typist for Aetna Insurance Company and later became employed by Cigna Insurance Company. Collectively, she worked for both companies for over 25 years, retiring in 1992.

Dolores had an amazing green thumb. One of her hobbies included caring for her numerous houseplants throughout the year as well as planting a vegetable garden in the summer and pruning her outdoor annuals. Shopping and finding a good deal were exciting for her. She looked forward to receipt of the weekly Sunday paper so she could explore the then very large selection of coupons and deals for numerous stores. Dolores was an active older adult. She loved to walk throughout Union for exercise. Near daily, she could be seen in the early morning hours with her big walking stick.

Dolores was affectionately known as “Broomie” by her daughters, grandsons, great granddaughter, and all who knew her.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, James William Eason, and her sister Ruth Evelyn Mathews. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Ann Harper and Kim Dorothy Eason of Union, NJ; sister Florence Jewell McGlohn of Sun City, AZ; grandsons, Mark Wayne Harper of Newark, NJ, Kenneth Andre Bulle, Jr. (Lowell) of Atlanta, GA, and Paul Wayne Harper, Jr. of Union, NJ; great-granddaughter, Amil Celeste Horton-Harper of Union, NJ; sister- in-law,  Lucille Ann Davis, Vauxhall, NJ; son-in-law, Paul Wayne Harper, Sr. of Union, NJ; an aunt, Beatrice Richard of Jacksonville, Fl; a longtime family friend and godfather of Karen Ann Harper, Kenneth Wilson, Sr. of Clermont, Fl.; nieces, Dolores Chadwick of Vauxhall, NJ and Robin Thomas of Sun City, AZ; Marcella Taylor of Charleston, South Carolina; nephew, Frank McGlohn of Townson, MD; James K.
