Dolores “Dee” Fluno, 79, passed away peacefully in the arms of her children on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau from complications associated with COVID19. Dee was born on March 4, 1941, in Burlington, NJ, to the late Nicholas and Natalina “Nellie” Caruso. She married a man who she would always describe as the “most handsome” she had ever met, the late Anthony “Drex” Lomma, in December 1961, and together they had five children. Dee’s focus in life was raising her children and nurturing her family.
She showed her love in so many ways but she will be especially remembered for her amazing Italian cooking. Her life took many twists and turns, but Dee faced each new challenge with an infectious optimism. Those who knew her would describe her as one of the most kindhearted, selfless and loving people they had ever met. She rejoiced in giving back to the community, earning Volunteer of the Year in 2017 for her work with the Association of All Handicapped Citizens (AAHC). Dee organized activities for AAHC that provided opportunities for individuals with disabilities to socialize. It made perfect sense that Dee would gravitate toward this combination of helping others and having fun.
She was predeceased by her three beloved husbands: Anthony “Drex” Lomma, Melvin Ely, and Russell Fluno; her amazing parents; two brothers; her brave grandson, Jacob Peters; and many friends and loved ones. She leaves behind loving memories to be cherished by her children: Natalie (Jerry) Peters, Mary Jo Lomma (Chris Monfort), Bernadette (David) Carolfi, Michele Wiberg (Jeff Wiberg), and Anthony Lomma (Jodi Eberhardt); grandchildren Amber (Steve Quandt) Horn, Aaron Lomma, Nicholas Carolfi, Maxwell Wiberg, Michael Carolfi, Jackson Wiberg and Josephine Peters.
