Do Littlewood passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, January 7, 2016 of natural causes.
Do was born in Atwater, CA. She was the second child to William and Adeline Rosa. Dolores and her sister, Adele, lived through the Depression and WWII as young children and despite the lack of food, clothing and money, their family managed to make ends meet and remain successful. She married her first husband and soon after had 5 daughters. She was a jack-of-all-trades, working as an x-ray technician and secretary, but most fondly remembered by her grandchildren as the business owner of a small ice cream parlor. A fashionista at her core, she dressed to impress no matter the occasion. With a perfect blowout and manicured nails, she would say, “Life is not a dress rehearsal, dress for the play.”
Dolores spent much of her adult life on the move: from California to Nevada, Idaho and Alaska, then back to Nevada again. It is in Idaho where she and her husband, Gary Littlewood, settled down for retirement in 2005. Dolores is survived by her sister, Adele Dutra and her children; her husband, Gary Littlewood, his son Christopher (Jana) and daughter Cheri (Eric); her five daughters, Cindy, Charyl (Joseph), Chris, Charlie (Keith), Cathy (Zac); as well as 15 grandchildren: Jessica, John, Emily, Ryan, Anna, Kenny, Tyler, Kyle, Kayla, Caitlin, Spencer, Wyndsor, Aurora, Tallon, Kelson; three great-grandchildren; and Rusty, her loyal standard poodle who will be forever sad without her by her side.
Affectionately named “Grandma Dodie”, she will be forever remembered by her husband, children and grandchildren for her sense of style, perfectly made up appearance, charisma and conviction, and recipe for ribs and fried chicken. She will be missed.
The family would like to thank Hospice care, especially Christi and Tanya for trying to make Do as comfortable as possible during her last days – their patience, kindness, and comfort was greatly appreciated.
