Dolly Elaine Smith, the 8-month-old infant daughter of Marquis “Markie” Thomas-Burke and Bradley Smith, both of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, at 2:23 pm at the University of Chicago/Comer Children’s Hospital in Chicago from injuries sustained after being struck by an automobile on Friday. Her aunt Courtney J. Smith and uncle Shawn M. Wolcott also perished in the same incident.
Besides her parents, little Dolly is survived by grandparents Yvonne Thomas & Steve Warren of Indianapolis and Sunshine “Sunny” Combs & William Smith of Elkhart; great grandparents Curtis & Wilma Summers of Elkhart and Georgette & Stan Gardner of Battle Creek, MI; godparents Jeannine and Cliff Daly of Spicewood, TX and a host of loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dolly was a perfect, happy, content and wonderful little girl. She loved to laugh and smile and she enjoyed bouncing and wiggling in her little jumper seat. She had just begun to discover animals, which she loved, and to clap her hands to the music.
