Harriette Carolyn King “Carol”, 79, of Alexandria, VA pasted away quietly in her sleep on August 10, 2020. She was born May 15, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to parents Rosa C. Smith and Milton E. Smith (both deceased). Carolyn also held residents in Columbia, MO, Tacoma, WA, Tulsa, OK, Memphis, TN and Chicago, IL.
Carolyn King attended Leath Elementary, Porter Junior High and Booker T. Washington High Schools located in Memphis, TN in 1960’s. She continued her higher education in order to achieve her P.H.D. in Law, a Masters in P. E. Health & Addictions, a Masters in Child Educations, and Bachelor Degree in Arts Science. She became the family’s matriarch, historian, a published author, writer, poet, artist, and bible scholar. And, she also loved to, sew, crotchet, cook, and dance in her spare time.
Her passion was to service the underprivileged youths, elderly, veterans and incarcerated people struggling within their communities. Throughout her life time, she worked in multiple fields such as a school teacher, social worker, female correctional advocate, and veteran hospital volunteer. Without fearing for own life, Carolyn would selflessly go into the hardest, poorest, and dangerous neighborhoods just to offer help in need of food, clothing, and/or shelter.
After high school she married Charles Rogers Jones in the 1960’s and to Raymond Lewis King in the 1970’s (both deceased). She is survived by her four out of five children Michael R. Jones, son (Audrey, Brooklyn, and Kennedy Jones) of Friends Wood, TX; Sandra Dee Christopher Curry, daughter (Jim Curry) of Alexandria, VA; Richard D Jones, son Seattle, WA; Karan Jones, daughter (deceased), and Stacy L King, son Reston, VA.
Carolyn is also survived by three brothers Willard Smith, VA Beach, VA; Milton Smith of Tacoma, WA and Fennel Smith Tacoma, WA. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, family, and friends.
