Dixie Jean Whitney (of Superior, NE) was born February 14, 1936 in Mt Clare, Nebraska to Eugene and Ada (Powers) Patton. She departed this life on Thursday, September 28, 2017, at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 81 years.
On January 21, 1956, Dixie married Shrimp Whitney and to this union, three children were born. While Shrimp was employed by the Bureau of Reclamation, the family resided in Nebraska, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Nevada. Dixie and Shrimp returned to Superior in 1994 upon his retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Phyllis Darling and brother-in-law Max Darling, brother Jim Patton, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Leon and Marcella Simonsen.
Dixie is survived by her daughter Gwen Killian and son-in-law, Chipper, Snyder, OK; daughter Marty Quinlan and son-in-law, Darren, Snyder, OK; son Chuck Whitney and daughter-in-law Teresa, Henderson, NV; grandchildren Amber Smith, Mesa, AZ; Ricci Quinlan, Snyder, OK; Shanna Quinlan, Colorado Springs, CO; Jamie Nevarez and husband, David, Tuttle, OK; Paul Killian and wife, Jorden, Snyder, OK; Chad Whitney and wife Rose, Boulder City, NV; and Chelsa Mackarness and husband Preston, Henderson, NV; great-grandchildren Alyssa Rockman, Bailey Smith, Kaleb King, Sophia Mackarness, Noah Whitney, Caiome Mackarness, Jase Killian, and Ava Rose Nevarez; sister-in-law, Nancy Patton, Superior, NE; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dee and Kent Bixby, Superior, NE; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
