Dina Maria Salsameda was born to Esperanza Mayo and Jesus Salsameda on June 26, 1936 in Brawley, California. Jesus relocated to Ranch Cucamonga with Dina and her little sister Louisa, where he met and married Emilia Maes Salsameda. Dina and Louisa were raised by Jesus and Emilia in Rancho Cucamonga before moving to Oxnard in the 1950’s.
Dina has been a resident of Ventura County for more than 60 years. While in Oxnard, she worked hard for her family and began attending school to become a CNA. She was hired to work at the hospital and maintained the position of CNA for more than 10 years. Dina was a great provider. She was blessed to have 15 children. Epiphania (deceased at birth), Lupe Guillen, Danny Salsameda (deceased), Amilcar ‘Junior’ Mondesi (deceased), Awilda ‘Rita’ Mondesi Medina (deceased), Nellie Mondesi Martinez and twin Nelson (deceased at birth), Emily ‘Bolena’ Mondesi, Yolanda Mondesi, Ruth ‘Coco’ Mondesi, Lucy Mondesi Mensah, Genie Mondesi Perez (deceased) and twin Robert (deceased at birth), Gilbert Mondesi, and Duke Reveles. All born and raised in Oxnard, Ca. As Dina became older, she was comfortable with being a homemaker and helping care for her grandchildren. She loved her grandchildren and always put them first. She took care of them and made sure they were taken care of until her dying day.
Dina was preceded in death by 7 of her children, sister Louisa Salsameda Monroe, nephew Gary Monroe, adopted sister Amalia Cardenas Byrd Ramos and her beloved Aurelio Ortiz Reveles.
Dina Maria Salsameda was called peacefully to heaven on December 31, 2020 at St John’s Regional Medical Center at the age of 84. She leaves behind her 8 remaining children, 42 grandchildren, more than 28 great grand children, 5 nieces and a host of relatives and friends.
