Dimitrios Athanassiou, 81, of Bristol, passed away on November 4, 2022 in Naples, FL. He was the beloved husband of Vaso (Sofianos) Athanassiou for 30 years. Dimitrios was born in Nemea, Korinthos, Greece on January 18, 1941, son of the late Nikolas and Dimitra (Panagopoulos) Athanassiou. He moved to the United States in 1984 and was the proud owner of Kizl’s Family Restaurant for over 30 years. Dimitrios was a member of St. Demetrios Church in Bristol.
Along with his wife Vaso, Dimitrios is survived by his stepson Trefon and his wife Kim, and their children Yanni and Dimitri Goulias, which he loved dearly. He is also survived by his sisters Marianthi Georgiopoulos and her husband Takis, Sofia Karavidas and her husband Vasilis, and Antonia Karioti; and dear cousin Takis Panagopoulos and his wife Voula. He is also survived by his sister-in-laws Florence Gavrilis and Mary Sofianos; brother-in-laws Peter Sofianos and his wife Hellen, and John Sofianos and his wife Rita; and many nieces and nephews.
