She died at Community Pride in Battle Creek on Friday, August 7, 2015.
Diane was born on May 22, 1942, in Santa Monica, CA, the daughter of Leslie and Jeanne (Nelson) Wills. She was raised in Potter, NE, and graduated from Potter High School. Diane worked as a dental assistant in Sidney, NE, before becoming an administrative assistant at the University of Nebraska in Kearney, Drake University, in Des Moines, IA and later at Northeast Community College in Norfolk.
Diane continued her education at Wayne State where she graduated as the Valedictorian earning her Bachelors Science. She began her teaching career at Pierce High School in the fall of 1976. Diane taught English and was the speech and drama coach. After 25 years, Diane retired in 2001.
Diane married Francis Zimmerman on December 29, 1982, in Battle Creek.
Diane enjoyed reading, cooking, travelling, boating and photography. She also liked to work with stained glass. Diane was a Nebraska football fan.
She was political active and held a Private Investigator License.
Diane is survived by her husband, Francis; her two sons and their spouses, Jay and Stefani Hazelwood, of Elkhorn, and Tyler and Shawn Volk, of Omaha; three grandchildren, Chase Hazelwood, Allie Colgan and Josh Volk; two brothers, Paul and Suzanne Wills, of Alliance, NE, and Pastor Michael and Marla Wills, of Kansas City, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step mother, Florence, and one brother, Patrick.
