Diane Delores Downes Palmer, 75, departed this life on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at her home.

Diane was born in Maryland on June 2, 1943 to the late

Elsie Newcomb and Robert Lee Downes and she was raised by

Mrs. Katie Lake.

Diane received her education in the Dorchester County School System.  She was a homemaker and very crafty with her hands.  She loved crocheting, cross stitching, sewing, cooking, reading, fishing, crabbing, growing plants, shopping, private getaways and music.  Her favorite gospel song was “Take me to the King”.

On December 31, she married Walter Palmer and was blessed with seven children, James, Jeffrey, Maria, Glenda, Evonne, Karen, and Theresa.  She also raised Qyneshia as her very own.

Diane leaves to cherish her memories, Jeffrey Palmer, Maria Mouring (Lawrence), Glenda Palmer Hughes (George), Evonne Lake (John), Karen Palmer (Bubby), Theresa Palmer (Larry), Qyneshia Palmer, her husband of 55 years, Walter Palmer, a devoted son-in-law, John Lake who stood by her side from beginning to end, two brothers, Hubert and Gilbert Meekins, a sister, Roberta McDownell, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Diane was proceded in death by her son, James (Jimmy) Downes, her birth mother, Elsie Newcomb and father, Robert Lee Downes, Mrs. Katie Lake, her sister Virginia Perkins, and her brother, Edward Newcomb.
