Diane M. Scott, of Toms River, NJ passed away on Wednesday March 31, 2021 at her home. Diane had just celebrated her 81st birthday on March 28.
Diane was born in Newark, NJ in 1940 to Theresa and Gustave Milak and welcomed into a large and thriving family of aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents plus two siblings, Gus Jr. and Dennis. At the age of five, she was flower girl at an aunt’s wedding and met the groom’s ten-year-old brother, Donald Scott, who became the love of her life. When Diane and Donald married in 1957 it was their wish to have a large, close family, so they went on to raise seven children together during their marriage of 49 years.
Diane was known for her warm, outgoing personality and love of family, friends, and life in general. Anyone who knew Diane, knew of her compassion for the less fortunate and soft spot for children. In addition to her lifelong career as a homemaker, Diane worked with special needs youth for many years and was well-known in the community as a respected mother figure.
Diane’s curious mind and spirited sense of humor made her popular with all ages. She loved to travel and took vacations to California, Hawaii, New England and Florida where she savored each experience to the fullest. Diane was highly creative and enjoyed crafts, sketching, and writing. She was an avid reader and learner who relished interesting conversations. Diane loved to bring the family together to celebrate holidays and life moments with good food, laughter, and games. She reveled in spending time with her grandchildren and sharing stories and great times with them.
Diane’s legacy continues in her surviving children Donna D’Alessandro of Toms River, NJ; Debbi Scott Price of Stony Brook, NY; Denice Ramsay and her husband Louis of Millstone, NJ; Doreen Nett of Manchester, NH; Darren Scott of California; and Deanna Smith of Toms River, NJ; and her 10 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild. Diane is predeceased by her husband Donald Scott, her son David Scott and her brothers Gustave and Dennis Milak.
