Diane was born on March 20, 1935 to parents William and Genelle Hargis. She had a brother, Bill who was two years older than her. Diane was born in East Oakland, California but at the age of 3 months, the family moved to their home in Berkeley, California where Diane grew up and her parents lived for 50 years. Diane attended Berkeley High School and graduated in June of 1952 with honors. She attended the University of California at Berkeley for one year but left school in 1953 to marry her husband of 68 years, Alfred Busnardo, who she preferred to call “Buzz”.

In October of 1953, Diane and Buzz moved to Los Angeles where Buzz attended an electronic school for 18 months, and Diane worked for the State of California in an office, handling workers’ compensation. In 1955, they moved to Colorado where Buzz had grown up. Buzz worked for Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph for 41 years and by then, the company had become U.S. West. Diane worked for Remington Rand Office Equipment Company, starting as Chief Clerk and then Office Manager.

In 1968, they bought their house in Lakewood, Colorado and in January 1969 their son, Michael was born. Michael was always a son to be very proud of, as a child, and as a teenager. After high school, Michael attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, earning a Master of Science Degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting.

In 1989, Buzz and Diane began their trips overseas, touring Europe and Eastern Europe many times. They also traveled to the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Russia, Egypt, China, Thailand, South America, Hawaii and Mexico. In later years they took many trips to the Southwestern United States, including Las Vegas.

Diane is survived by her husband, Alfred; her son, Michael; sister-in-law, Mary Kay (Larry) Baumgartner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
