Diane Forbes, 70, of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away September 13, 2019 at the Lincoln Court Care Center surrounded by her family. She was under the care of Encompass Hospice. Diane was born on Friday the 13th and passed away on Friday the 13th. She is very loved and will be deeply missed.
Diane Christine Staples was born on May 13, 1949 to Kyle Thueson Staples and Beth Mozel (Anderson) Staples. She was raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and had one sister, Peggy Huffaker and two brothers, Kyle “Butch” Staples and Kelly Staples.
After graduating from Idaho Falls High School, she attended Ricks College for a short time where she met Ken Tuttle. They were married and had a daughter, Jody. Diane worked at the credit department at Sears in Idaho Falls and also in Provo where Ken was attending Brigham Young University (BYU). After the loss of their daughter, they divorced and Diane moved to Lewiston where she met and married Roger Scharer. They had four children; Stephanie, Roger, Michael, and Greg. They raised their family in the Lewiston area where she was able to be a stay-at-home mom. They divorced after seven years. Diane moved back to Idaho Falls and married Troy Forbes 6 years later. They had one child, Ashley. They made their home in Diane’s childhood home. Diane worked in the banking industry for several years but quit to be home with Ashley and her granddaughter, Taylor. She made extra money buying and selling antiques. She had a passion for decorating and finding antiques, refurbishing them and then repurposing them for sale. She and her brother, Butch, also had a business designing and building water gardens. She had a green thumb and loved to work in the yard. Once Ashley was older, Diane went to work at Dillard’s. She and Troy later divorced after 20 years of marriage. Diane worked for several years at Dillards until her retirement in May of 2015 due to declining health.
She is survived by her children, Stephanie Scharer, Roger Scharer, Michael Scharer (Shawn), Greg Scharer (Chelsea), and Ashley Forbes; and 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Peggy Huffaker (Weld) of Lewiston, Idaho and a brother Kelly Staples (DeAnna) of Kooskia, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kyle and Beth; her brother Kyle; and a daughter Jody.
