Diane Wildey was born in Los Angeles, California, the youngest daughter of Herb & Elaine Skolfield. She grew up in North Hollywood, attending Hollywood High and earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California. Her early career was spent as an elementary school teacher. After meeting and marrying Robert Wildey in 1959, she turned to the vocation of wife and mother as they started their family, moving to Flagstaff in 1965 to support his career at the US Geological Survey and Northern Arizona University.
Mrs. Wildey spent many hours leading and supporting Flagstaff civic organizations, including the League of Women Voters, the former Flagstaff Civic Beautification Commission, and the Faculty Wives Club of Northern Arizona University. She was a politically active citizen whose commitment to the community helped see through many critical initiatives which have helped the charm and character of our town persevere. Her passion for classical music was shared by giving piano lessons to many of Flagstaff’s children.
She was welcomed by the loving arms of her husband Bob and her dear parents. She was also predeceased by an infant son. Her memory in this life will be kept alive by her children Robert Wildey, Herb Wildey (Robin) and Wendy Wildey and her grandson Christian, as well as her deeply devoted terrier Wallace.
