Diana M. (Maggio) Mueller, 63, of Oglesby, passed away peacefully Monday, April 15, 2019, surrounded by her loving family, after an extended illness of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Ovarian Cancer.

Diana was diagnosed with ovarian cancer September 2014. She wants all women to know, if you’re having female problems, ask your doctor for a CA125 blood test. CA125 is an ovarian tumor marker, non-invasive and may lead your doctor to an early diagnosis of this disease if the levels are high. Diana recently wrote, “I had a good life, a full life. Happiness, gratitude, joy, extreme sadness, health and illness. I was blessed with a good family and friends, marriage, three beautiful and intelligent daughters that filled my heart with pride and gave me grand babies, pets that gave unconditional love.  Extreme sadness, losing our youngest daughter, Alex to heroin intoxication and with all the stress and worry that led up to her death. Life doesn’t teach us how to cope with losing our child, our baby. For some reason I thought I would live to be an old lady. I guess God had other plans.

I had a good life.” Diana was born October 11, 1955 in LaSalle, the youngest of four children, to Sam and Bernice (Jones) Maggio. Diana’s sister, Sandra was like a second mother to her while growing up and a best friend through the years.  Diana married Donald Osenkarski on June 28, 1975; they were married 10 years, then divorced. They had two daughters, Jamie and Miranda. Diana then married Stephen C. Mueller on June 7, 1986 and had their daughter, Alexandra. Stephen adopted Jamie and Miranda on March 27, 1989 after Donald’s death. Diana was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School, Class of 1974. She became a licensed CNA in December 2003 and worked at Silver Hills Healthcare Center in Las Vegas. Diana, Stephen and family moved around the country with Stephen’s engineering work.

Diana enjoyed taking care of her family,  chocolate, working on family history, collecting and selling antiques and collectibles, gardening, hiking our state and national parks, politics, her pets, feeding and watching the birds, volunteering at Illinois Valley Animal Rescue in LaSalle and the PADS Shelter in Peru. She also cared for and raised her granddaughter, Gianna, Alexandra’s daughter, adopting Gianna on April 7, 2016.

Diana is survived by her husband, Stephen Mueller and her granddaughter, Gianna Mueller of Oglesby; her daughters, Jamie Mueller of Aurora and Miranda (Michael) Webster of Memphis, TN; granddaughters, Jordyn and Kendall Klatt and Parklin and her grandsons, Hunter & Connor Webster. Diana was preceded in death by her daughter, Alexandra Mueller; her parents and her brother, Salvatore Maggio.
