Dewain VaNyle Loveland, 89, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 peacefully at his home in Willard following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Harper Ward, Utah to Dewain VaNyle and Edna Gibbs Loveland on March 3, 1927. He attended elementary school in Deweyville and later attended Bear River High School.

Dewain served his Country in the Army during World War II and again in the Korean War.

In 1952, he married Flo Grover and moved to Willard. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple in 2004. After working for the Union Pacific Railroad and Ogden Arsenal, Dewain began working for Ogden City Schools as a plumbing and electrical supervisor, he remained there and retired in 1986 after 32 years. He and Flo enjoyed 14 years as snowbirds in Nevada and Arizona. In his later years, Dewain enjoyed woodworking and built birdhouses, benches and many other items for his family and friends. He was always friendly and resourceful. He had what anyone could ever need and if he didn’t have it, he knew where to find it.

He is survived by his wife Flo, son Bryan (Deb) Loveland, daughter Jeanette Loveland and two granddaughters: Shawn Marissa (Shawn) Rodeback, Brittany Jill (Jaxon) Drewes, four great-granddaughters: Ellie, Ava, Mia and Maci, five bonus-great-grandchildren: Keenan (Ashlyn), Levi, Shawnee, Kaden and Davis Rodeback. He is also survived by his sister Janice Gardner as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Nola Dean Loveland, Loa Knudsen and Ione Smith, his brother Lyle Loveland, his step-brother Gerald “Bud” Marble and his step-sister Emma Lou Marble.
