DeVonna Margaret Byrd, 89, of Warren, IN, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014, at 12:45 a.m. at Heritage Pointe, Warren, IN.
Mrs. Byrd was born on March 11, 1924, in Huntington, IN to Carl Oliver and Hazel (Bippus) Rupley. Her parents preceded her in death. Mrs. Byrd married Rex H. Byrd on April 26, 1942 in Huntington, IN. He preceded her in death on August 5, 2001.
Mrs. Byrd graduated from Bippus High School in 1942. Mrs. Byrd was a former employee of Wabash Magnetics and Square D Company both in Huntington, IN. She was a past member of Evangelical United Methodist Church, Huntington, IN. Mrs. Byrd was a member of the Bunco Club, Kappa Sigma Tau Sorority Chapter, past President of the Home Economics Club of Huntington, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Byrd is survived by one son, William (Carol) Byrd, Huntington, IN; one daughter, Connie McDaniel, Huntington, IN; and one half-brother and one half-sister. Mrs. Byrd is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by one son, Randy Byrd, on April 4, 2003; one brother, Alvin Rupley; and one sister, Thelma Richardson.
