Deryl L. Schertz, 96, of Metamora, IL, formerly of Henry, IL passed away at 7:53 pm on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Snyder Village in Metamora. He was born on May 13, 1920 to Louis A. and Lulu M. (Springer) Schertz. He married Margaret S. Sharp on January 7, 1946 in Eureka, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are children Douglas (Laura) Schertz, Suzanne Sharp, Richard (Jeanne) Schertz, Scott (Nathalie) Schertz, and Ann (Sam) Dong; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister LaDoris Davis. He was preceded in death by sister Ruth VanWinkle.
Deryl was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during World War II. He was an Industrial Arts teacher for 30 years, last teaching at Henry-Senachwine High School in Henry.
