Derrick Lynn Jones was born on December 24,1968, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Dorcia Patton and Cross Jones, Jr. Derrick attended Indianapolis public and the Municipal School District of Washington Township schools. He graduated from North Central High School, in 1988.
Derrick worked many jobs but enjoyed working in any capacity with cars more than anything. His favorite job was at Tire Barn for more than ten years.
Derrick was a conversationalist and whenever you were in his presence you could look forward to many stories of his many adventures or antics. Derrick had many friends—he never met a stranger. He was curious, intriguing, nostalgic, sentimental, and engaging in one sentence.
Derrick loved to eat good food, listen to good music, and could socialize among people from all walks of life. He loved his children, his family, and the peace of a simple life surrounded by family and many friends. He was a sincerely loved man and will be missed by everyone whose life he touched.
Derrick Lynn Jones passed away at the age of 50 years, on September 3, 2019. He was a much-loved father, son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin, and a friend to many.
Derrick was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Lamont Polk; his stepfather, Ronald Polk, and his maternal grandmother, Charlene Patton Grimm;
