Dennis Wayne Johnson, Nampa, Idaho, was born September 21, 1931 in the rolling farm lands of Madison, South Dakota. On May 27, 2011 he found his place of perfect peace after a brave and courageous fight with cancer. Dennis leaves behind Joyce, his wife of 55 years. They are blessed with daughters Susan (Jeff Johnson), Denise (Steve Lind), Bev (Karl Murray) and Lori (Tom Woosley); grandchildren Casey (Andy Sanchez), Aaron, Ryun, Sam and Shaely; great grandchildren Christopher and Marissa. His sister Dorothy resides in South Dakota. Major, Dennis and Joyce’s poodle was a constant companion, a source of joy and happiness for 13 years.
Dennis’ early goal was to be a farmer, but after serving in the Navy aboard the USS Midway, marriage and farming for a year that goal changed. He graduated from South Dakota State University with honors in three years. He went to work for Kraft Foods with a goal of becoming a plant manager. He achieved and far exceeded that goal.
In his own words, Dennis told his daughters “I look at all of the things I have accumulated and feel very fortunate. I don’t mean material things, they come and go. What I mean is family. What more could I ask for?”
