Dennis Stokes, age 56, of Centralia passed away on July 2, 2015 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Dennis was born in East Saint Louis, Illinois, on September 12, 1958, a son to Leonard and Rosalie (Vandeveer) Stokes. He married Athena Clark on May 13, 1983 in Itasca, Illinois and they later divorced.
Dennis is survived by his mother, Rosalie of Centralia, Illinois; ex wife, Athena Stokes of Centralia; two sons, Jeremy Stokes and T.J. Witt of Centralia; four daughters Amanda Stokes of Granite City, Illinois, Dolleva Williams and fiancé Brian Bierman and Maegen Stokes of Centralia, Illinois, and Lorri Hatcher of Granite City, Illinois; six grandchildren, Christopher Stokes, Baylie Gomez, Donovan Stokes, Chloe Williams, Trinity Witt, and Wyatt Williams; one brother Todd Stokes of Norridge, Illinois; one sister Kelley Stokes of Centralia, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father; one son Joseph Aaron Stokes; and his grandparents Roger Vandeveer, Irene Stoops, Ada Duncan, and Emmitt Stokes.
Dennis enjoyed his church and Bible study, was an Eagle Scout, he enjoyed playing D & D, and enjoyed Star Trek. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grand kids.
