On Sunday morning, April 10, 2016, Dennis Earl Taylor passed away while being attended to by his family and staff members of the River City Center in Decatur, AL. He was born in Morgan County, AL on February 28, 1958, to the late James and Ella Mary Taylor. He confessed his love for Christ at an early age and joined Shiloh M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Reverend M. C. Cosby. He attended the Decatur City Schools and worked at Wayne’s Farm until his health declined.

Dennis Taylor, AKA “Spoon” was always an easy going individual who never met a stranger. He loved to walk and meet people.  Dennis enjoyed sports, especially basketball, eating anything sweet, especially his mother’s (Ella) pound cake and homemade vanilla ice cream. He also loved spending time with his family. Anyone that may have had the opportunity to know “Spoon” will never forget him because he was truly a character, with his famous sayings such as, “This is all me”, “anything you need I got”.  But most of all, the fabulous “walk or strut” that he had, when you saw him walking down the road you automatically knew that it was “Spoon” Taylor .  Our family understands now what it means to have a Broken Chain.

Mr. Taylor leaves to cherish his memory: two awesome daughters, Tasha Martin (James) and Brandy Steele (Patrick) all of Decatur; two sisters, Mary Jones and Sarah Shackelford (Coynis) of Decatur; four brothers, Eddie Taylor (Vickie), Franklin Taylor (Linda), Ronald Taylor and Elder David Taylor (Evelyn) all of Decatur; and a host of other relatives and friends.
