Dennis R. Crouse, 73, died Monday, January 25, 2021, in his residence with family by his side. He was born in Muncie on May 4, 1947, the son of the late Russell E. Crouse and Mary Etta (Coovert) Bush.

He attended Jefferson Township/Eastbrook Schools and served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. He worked as a Production Machine Operator at Dana Corp, Marion, for 30 years before he retired in 1999; while there he earned the nickname “Wormie”. Dennis married the love of his life, Eunice A. Oliver, on December 9, 1971, in Eaton. Mr. Crouse had served as the President & Trustee for the Howard County Vietnam Vets, was a member of the Gaston American Legion for over 43 years, the Matthews Covered Bridge Historical Society, and the Matthews Cemetery Association, and was a Lifetime Member of the Gas City VFW, and served on the Matthews Volunteer Fire Department from 1970 – 1990. He enjoyed fishing, camping, flying radio control airplanes, and had a heart for helping his fellow veterans.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years: Eunice Crouse, Matthews; a son: John (Ann) Crouse, Powell, Ohio; a daughter: Jessica (Chad) Henderson, Jonesboro; four grandchildren: Nathan Henderson; Adam Henderson; Ethan Crouse; and Devon Crouse; a brother: Robert Hardy, New Port, North Carolina; two sisters: Cindy Crouse and Sharon (Kenny) Jackson, both of Hartford City; two Uncles: Richard (Sue) Crouse, Hartford City; and Harold (Barbara) Crouse, Wheeling; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his furry friends: Harvey and Izzi.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell M. Crouse and Mark D. Crouse; a brother-in-law, Martin Oliver; and a sister-in-law, Rose Hardy.
