Dennis Patrick O’Pry, age 69, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2019. “Pat” was born in Atlanta, GA on November 10, 1950 to Edgar Horace O’Pry and Sarah Ruth Upchurch. He was a General Contractor in the construction industry for nearly 50 years. Pat was a commanding presence. His voice was commonly the boisterous voice in the crowd—embarrassing at times and comforting in others. Pat was known for his generosity; many of his happiest moments were “Shareth of the Wealth” days where family and friends experienced meals and random acts of kindness. He was also generous with his time. Daily tasks in retirement often revolved around serving others. He loved his children and grandchildren who affectionately called him “Pappy”. When not helping others or spending time with family, Pat was likely watching re-runs of anything John Wayne, Matlock, M*A*S*H, and Bonanza while pondering the universe through the eyes of The Duke, Ben, Hawkeye, or Little Joe. Pat was a believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He cherished his Bible and spent countless hours studying the Word up until the day of his death. Pat O’Pry is survived by his two children (and spouses), Jeremy O’Pry (Kira) and Meagan O’Pry (Brooke); his grandchildren, Trinity, Bryant, Callie, Keelin, Aryn, and DJ; his former spouse, Deborah O’Pry; his two siblings (and spouses), Mike O’Pry (Marian) and Tim O’Pry (Diane); and many nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Ruth O’Pry, and his sister Teresa Bergamini.
